Intermediate Fiddle Level 1

Instructor: Ed Pearlman

This class will work with pretty much all the 12 tunes in Tune Group 1 – Bonnie Tammie Scolla*, Britches Full of Stitches*, Put Me In A Box*, Leaving Lismore*, Hills of Lorne, Spotted Pony*, Mrs MacLeod of Raasay*, Song of the Chanter, Wee Tod, Tenpenny Bit*, Swallowtail, St Ann’s Reel (audio sample of all tunes at this link).  We’ll play and review the asterisked tunes, with more attention to actually working through the others.  You can always work on any of these tunes at your own pace using the interactive sheet music in Tune Group 1, which is included.

Also included will be Technique Video Group 2, which allows us to focus on improving our sound, finger, and control in new ways.  Some exercises/games from TechVid 1 will be used (it’s recommended that you sign up for or renew this group), and some new ideas from TechVid 2 will be introduced.  We’ll review some special exercises for reading music focusing on fluent reading on the fiddle rather than the typically more academic approach.

8 Wednesdays, Feb 20 - April 10, at 7:30pm EST

Cost: 90 credits*, including:

Live online sessions plus access to technique videos, tunelearning pages with self-repeating audio on manageable parts of the tunes, emailed written descriptions, reading exercises, links to articles
